Due to some changes with international travel it was an unexpected opportunity to head down to the very cold Goulburn. Supporting all the states and in particular Team Pacific was a lot of fun to see some athletes and coaches i haven't seen for over a year and to strengthen connections as we head towards Oceania Champs next month

Another unexpected opportunity to be present in Brisbane for the World Champs, bringing support to the 280 athletes from 70 nations, unfortunately the weather didn't perform on the final day and so a different type of event with no finals able to run but a great opportunity to meet athletes in their disappointment

With the best in Australia gathering to compete for selection on the Commonwealth Games Team, Pan Pacific Swimming & Para Pan Pacific Swimming Champs, and those with one last opportunity to swim in an Australian major meet for the season. Connecting with staff, officials, coaches, athletes, parents and families it is always a pleasure to be in the swimming world. A trials event always has a range of emotions from exhilaration right through to disappointment and everything in between. For some it was their first time competing against the open swimmers and others their 16th national trials - the beauty of sport, everyone with their own journey and at every different point of the career.

This time we found ourselves in Darwin and with a team of 3 chaplains we were able to serve the people of the event. Staying in the village with the athletes and assisting with the athlete zone at the track it was a non stop great week and a bit of connecting and meeting people where they were at. Athletes, coaches, officials, event staff and volunteers and families. always a privilege to serve the Oceania

A great week in Fiji as we had all the countries come together and compete, with perfect weather for both the open water and pool competition. I was able to come alongside athletes, coaches, administrators, officials and parents and bring support to them where they were at.

Next stop was Adelaide for what’s quickly becoming one of my favourite events on the calendar. Despite one team being unable to travel to Australia due to flight‑path challenges, we still welcomed athletes from Australia, the USA, Great Britain, Brazil, and Germany for the World Challenge—along with Kenya joining our national competition and some of the juniors getting the opportunity to compete.

I’m continually amazed by the resilience of these athletes and the stories carried by them and their families. It’s an honour to play even a small part in helping make the event a positive experience, and to see relationships form that continue well beyond the final whistle. As athletes head home, the connections remain strong.

Straight after the Gold Coast, it was down to Sydney for the Open Nationals, where some of the country’s best came together to compete. One of the things I value most is helping athletes connect with one another—and this weekend we saw that in action, with genuine support happening both on and off the track.

With automatic Commonwealth Games selections on the line, it was an important meet and a meaningful opportunity to bring care to the whole person, not just the athlete in competition mode. Serving the athletics community is always a privilege, and never something I take for granted.

At the Gold Coast, the Open Nationals rolled on—bringing together many of Australia’s top athletes and para athletes. It was another meaningful opportunity to serve the people of sport, offering care and support to athletes, officials, coaches, staff, volunteers, and families.

With strong relationships continuing to grow and new ones forming, the season is far from over. Trials arrive in June, followed by the Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacs. It’s shaping up to be a huge year, with plenty more swimming still to come.

Back on the Gold Coast as our Multi Class age swimmers got amongst the action i had the opportunity to meet new families and coaches from right across the country and a few international guests. Connecting with staff and officials and bringing support in the practical as well as the emotional, mental & spiritual

At the only gold continental athletics meet in the southern hemisphere I was able to be there to connect with the athletes, officials and coaches, continuing to build the relationships and help practically with transport, training venues and support as well as the mental, emotional and spiritual conversations. Helping the event organisers, connecting with parents and families and being there for the people of sport.

Arriving back in Sydney i made my way down to Melbourne for the Maurie Plant Meet visiting athletes, officials, coaches and chaplains. Canberra, Albury, Wangaratta, Euroa, Shepperton, Bendigo and Melbourne. and an unexpected opportunity to watch the Sheffield Shield final and connect with some of the families.

A week in Auckland gathering with people across the Islands, NZ & Australia to connect, hear what's happening, strategize and grow as individuals and as a movement. From the Globe to the Pacific to Australia, our heart is to see people connect their sport and faith together and make a Kingdom impact. March 12-15th saw me at Sydney Olympic Park with the age group state athletics championships. Supporting athletes, coaches and officials and their families throughout the 4 days on the brand new track saw me doing many different things, hospital runs, car runs, grocery runs. Sweeping long jump pits, lots of listening and connecting with many people. From friends who I went to school with who had their children competing, to some of our athletes in the U20's who have been on several trips overseas and across the country with me. Faithful coaches who have been there for decades helping bring the next gen through. The highs and lows of life and sport, and i love that i get to journey it all with them.

This was a great weekend back in Sydney with many interstate and international visitors.

Serving our officials, athletes and families always gives experience of many different stories and emotions. For some who this was their first time being able to compete at this level and so excited; to others who have done nearly 2 decades of these events. A state champs has so many narratives and I love that I get to witness them and play a part in many.

With Nationals only a month away the training continues for many and others this was their final meet of the season. Well done all, cheering you on

As the world came to Sydney Han had the opportunity to be amongst the teams, officials, media and spectators bringing the calm and like any event, celebrating and commiserating with athletes. Visits to medical, bringing support in chaos and meeting family and friends. Lots of new connections and catching up with old ones, journeying the different stages of the athlete life and reminding athletes their identity is not found in their performance. It's always a privilege to serve the global world of sport.

Han was at the Summer Series in Canberra, connecting with many athletes she hasn't seen for quite a while. Seeing athletes get world indoor qualifiers, international athletes there getting PB's and encouraging those that didn't perform as hoped. Chaplaincy is riding the highs and lows, celebrating with one whilst coming around another in the exact same event. Connecting with family members and connecting athletes to one another, always enlarging their support networks.

Han was able to be at the first stop of the World Series on the Gold Coast supporting athletes, coaches, support & event staff as well as officials and families. With over 150 athletes from 12 countries Han was in amongst the highs and lows that any international event brings

Han was able to head to India to train people from 8 countries across Asia, preparing them to connect wellbeing and sport to care for their communities. Whilst there Han was able to meet with 2 other of the Global Sports Chaplaincy board members. This was a little bit different to the normal trips, working more at the grass roots level of sport instead of the elite sport world. The needs are similar and the power of wellbeing and sport can be seen right across the world and right across the levels of sport.
